Bahia Concepcion is truly
one of the best places in Baja California. It lies
about 280 km south of Guerrero Negro and 445 km
north of La Paz on the Transpeninsular Highway.
The bay is aproximately 43km long and is nestled
off the Sea of Cortez. It is a protected marine
sanctuary.
The water is azure blue or green and crystal clear.
There are surrounding palm trees and red rock mountains.
The sand can range from hard, packed coral to very
soft. You'll be charged to camp on the beach. The
Bay has several water activities to choose from:
swimming, snorkelling, diving, sea kayaking, fishing,
clamming, water skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing,
sailing and others.
The calm, morning waters can turn brisk with the
arrival of the afternoon winds from the northeast.
It is not uncommon for waterskiiers and kayakers
to be out in the morning, but giving way to sailboarders
and catamarans in the afternoon. It is equipped
with at least three paved launch ramps, but it has
no slips. The best time to visit Bahia Concepcion
is during spring and fall. |
